Winter wheat is grown for the export market and to supply local
feed mills. We have good access to the ports at Gt Yarmouth, Ipswich and Lowestoft from
where the wheat can be exported to predominately Spain and Portugal. Wheat is used by the
local mills to produce feed for the large number pigs and poultry in the
area.
Wheat is the main crop for us and accounts for approximately 60% of the area. A mix of Group 3
and Group 4 soft wheats are grown to maximize export opportunities. Some hard Group 4 varieties
are also produced for supply to local feed mills.
